Grandmaster Liang Shouyu Grandmaster Shou-Yu Liangs martial arts ancestry originated five generations ago. At age six, he started his traditional Emei kungfu and Qigong training with his grandfather. He then sought out many other renowned masters across China and other styles from Shaolin and Wudang. His more than five decades of study and research in the few major styles of Taiji such as Yang, Chen, Sun, and Wu style, Bagua, Xing Yi, Liu He Ba Fa, Chinese wrestling, Qinna, Sanshou, Buddhist Esoteric Qigong, Taoist Qigong and many other external and internal forms and weapons has made him an outstanding well rounded martial artist.
He was one of the recipients of the Coach of Excellence title, given only to the most outstanding Chinese martial arts instructors by the Peoples Republic of China. Grandmaster Liang formerly taught at the University of Washington, and held the positions of Chairman of Wushu, Taiji, Qigong instruction at the University of British Columbia Physical Education and Recreation Department. He was elected head coach of the first Canadian National Wushu Team in 1985. In 1987, he had established the Shou-Yu Liang Wushu, Taiji and Qigong Institute in Vancouver, Canada. The same year he also founded the International Wushu Sanshou Dao Association (IWSD) which now has branches in more than 20 countries around the world. Grandmaster Liang is well-known and respected internationally. He has written and produced a great number of books and videotapes in Wushu, Taiji, and Qigong.
He has many times been featured on international television networks including Chinese Central Television (CCTV), Cable News Network (CNN), Discovery Channel and many other Canadian, Mexican, Greek, British and various European networks, as well as on the covers of many prestigious Chinese, American, and Canadian newspapers and magazines. Grandmaster Liang was bestowed the title of Life Time Honorary Chairman and the highest level in Wushu 10th degree by the Confederation of Canadian Wushu Organizations. Master Helen Liang Helen Liang is the eldest daughter of Grandmaster Liang Shou-Yu. Originally from Sichuan Province, China, she began training in traditional martial arts at the age of 4 under the strict guidance of her father. At the age of 11, she was chosen to train with Sichuan Provincial Wushu School.
In 1985, she immigrated to Canada and became an official instructor at the Shou-Yu Liang Wushu Institute in 1989. During her years of training, she has participated in many national and international competitions and has won a great number of gold medals. She has been featured in many media including Chinese Central Television (CCTV), Shanghai and Sichuan Provincial television in China, Cathay television in Canada, national pay-per-view features in the US, CBC and Channel M in Canada, as well as several newspapers and magazines in China, US, and Canada.
Master Tony Chen Master Tony Chen trained under his father, noted Grandmaster Chen Jian, from childhood. Grandmaster Chen is the 23rd generation headmaster of the Emei Qigong and Sword School. He also served as the chief martial arts instructor of the Chengdu Police Academy. Starting at age six, Tony Chen spent ten years training at the Chengdu Physical Education School, and then made the professional team for two years. He went on to win many national championships in the traditional divisions and was the National Wushu Champion four times.
In 1991, he was awarded Chinas coveted title Wu Yin or Martial Hero. He also served as the combat instructor for the Shenzhen Police Academy in Guangdong. Tony Chen immigrated to the U.S. in the last 90s. He founded the U.S.A. O-Mei Kung Fu Academy, which quickly rose to be the dominant Chinese martial arts franchise in the competitive San Francisco Bay Area. He earned a 7th Degree Black Belt in the International Wushu Sanshou Dao Association and was the U.S. Strike Force Kickboxing Champion. He has served as a self defense instructor for the Newark Police Department. Tony Chen has been featured in numerous articles in international martial arts magazines
Master He Tao Master Tao He graduated from Chengdu Physical Education Institute, Department of Wushu, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chinese Martial Arts. He is a world class Kung Fu coach, President of U.S.A. Wu Chi Kung Fu Academy, and an Executive of International Wushu Sanshou Dao Association where he currently holds a 7th degree Black Belt. Before immigrating to the U.S., he was the Wushu Head Coach of Department of Patrol Police and Department of Physical Education in the City of Dongguang, Guangdong Province, President of Wushu Association, Referee of China National Wushu, Dragon and Lion Dancing and an organizer of Kung Fu Competitions. Starting from 5 years old, Tao He studied Shushan Emei-style wushu, shuai jiao and qigong under Grandmaster Shou-Yu Liang.
Since 1978, he has participated in many national and international martial arts competitions, and has won many gold medals and other high honors. He has also published many expert level articles about wushu, qigong and sanshou at many national and international martial arts magazines. .
